Some arrive as if they have been coming for years, others like to sit with the teacher, another child may need you stay for a period of time – let’s make this a positive experience for your child!

Groups
When your child starts at nursery they are allocated to a key teacher group in one of the colour areas as their home base. They will remain in this group throughout their time at nursery, forming good relationships with their adults and group peers.
At present we have 8 groups in the morning nursery session, with up to 13 children in each group and the remainder in the afternoon sessions.

Half Day Settling In
Children that start at York Road have two settling in sessions during the first few days of the Autumn Term. The first session is an hour. This is so you and your child can meet the staff and other children and start to become familiar with the classrooms. You will need to stay with your child for this one-hour visit.
A second visit for you and your child will take place during the same week and will last two hours. You and your child will continue to get to know your child’s key teacher. The Headteacher will give a talk to parents during the session. You are asked to bring one piece of fresh fruit for your child to eat during the session.
After the staggered visiting days your child’s full sessions will commence. Please arrive at the normal starting time of 9.00am and collect your child promptly at 12.00 or 3:30pm if your child attends for 30 hours. If your child still needs your support, do feel free to stay. Please note: Yorkies opens after their summer break in September, please contact them direct on Tel. 632333 with any queries you may have regarding wrap around care, (breakfast club/holiday club or after school provision).
