What to expect when starting at our nursery

Settling In

All children will have a home visit before starting at Nursery where we will talk about the settling process for your child. We will work closely with you to help your child settle in. Every child is different, and you know what works best for yours. Some children arrive and settle straight in, others may prefer to stay close to a teacher, while some may need you to remain for a short time. Together, we’ll ensure this is a positive and reassuring experience for your child.

Meeting With Head

On your second visit the Head Teacher, Antonia Robinson, will give a talk to parents, if you have any questions or queries after this please do not hesitate to contact us.

Groups

When your child begins nursery, they will be placed in a group with a key teacher. Each group is named after a woodland animal and has its own base within the nursery, where children come together for group times. Children aged 2-3 are in groups of up to 10, while those aged 3-4 are in groups of up to 14. Learning support assistants work closely alongside the children to provide extra support where needed.

Dropping Off and Picking Up

Once your child is settled into nursery, their full sessions will commence. Please arrive at the normal starting time of 9.00am and collect your child promptly at 12.00 or 3:30pm if your child attends for 30 hours. If your child still needs your support, do feel free to stay.

Breakfast Club and After School Club

If your child attends Breakfast Club, please arrive at reception between 8am and 8.45am. Please note that breakfast is served until 8.30am.

After School Club runs from 3:30pm to 6:00pm. Please collect your child from Reception. Kindly note that Tea Time takes place from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and is a protected period; we ask that parents avoid arriving for pick-up during this time so we can support the children and maintain a calm atmosphere.
